Marching Into Battle - Poem

We marched into battle, with a will so strong,

On the field of Waterloo, where we knew we belong,

The French charged forward, with a might so futile,

And our bayonets and muskets, were so brutal.

We battled with honour, and courage so true,

For our nation and our people, for the things we knew,

The Duke of Wellington, led us with a firm hand,

And we fought hard, and made our stand.

The battle raged on, all day and all night,

The sound of death and fury, an unrelenting sight,

We held our ground, with a resolute will,

We fought with all our might, and with all of our skill.

Then, when we needed it most, the Prussians arrived,

Their cannons and guns, so we survived,

Together, we fought, with a might so solid,

And we pushed back the French, over much squalid.

The battle was won, the French defeated,

And now our poor wounded, could be treated,

We marched home, with a victory in hand,

We fought hard, and now sing along with the band.

Let us recall, the story of our tour,

Of the Battle of Waterloo, where our courage did endure,

For we fought with honour, happy singing this song,

Knowing we triumphed, and we’ll be home before long.
